Ten sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced charges of circulating untruths regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has yet to be released.
A persistent false narrative alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the French president's wife's gender.
Their complaint alleges that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
